A Oximeter is a small device that is used to measure the amount of oxygenated blood in the body .It is like a clip that attaches to finger , toe , nose or ear . It is also called pulse oximetry.It runs on cell and emits two lights i.e infrared and red light .
How it works ?
As oximeter contains two light waves i.e infrared and red light.
When we insert our finger in it , it starts emitting both the lights.Now if a person have more oxygenated blood then red light passes through the blood and infrared light gets captured.
In case of deoxygenated blood reverse happens that is , red light gets absorbed and infrared light gets passed .
This device measures this changes in absorption and shows the reading , how much blood is present in the body. If the reading is less than 93 to 94 , then the person should consult to the doctor
It is very easy to use this device . Any common peson can use it and it should be present at every home , especially these times , when there is pandemic of covid -19.
